On February 6, 2025, in the Hall of Mirrors of Palazzo Ducezio in Noto, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Municipality of Noto and the Sicilian Agroecology Coordination.
The signing of the document came after a phase of consultation and with the aim of facilitating the agroecological transition between the two bodies, pursuant to Regional Law 21 of July 29, 2021 of the Sicilian Region, concerning “Provisions on agroecology, protection of biodiversity and Sicilian agricultural products and technological innovation in agriculture. Rules on maritime state concessions.”
Specifically, the protocol, lasting 3 years and renewable, promotes the Agroecological Transition of the Municipality of Noto.
To this end, it is recalled that Noto, with its administrative territory, is the first municipality in Sicily, by extension, with a surface area of ​​554.99 km², and the fourth in Italy.
It is therefore a commitment aimed at the agroecological transition, by the two bodies, as provided for by the aforementioned law, in accordance with the two Farm to Fork and Biodiversity 2030 strategies of the European Union, of a vast territory. Obviously, the object of the transition are the agricultural companies that, with the identification of some pilot companies to act as a driving force, will have to gradually adapt to a more efficient production model from a quantitative, qualitative, ecological and social point of view.

The signing of the protocol was followed, the next day, by a meeting with two high schools with an agricultural and hotel management focus, promoted by the Kyoto Club within the project “Agree CAP project”.
The institutes are: the I.I.S. “P. Calleri” Pachino coordinated branch of Rosolini and an institute in Caltagirone.
The project took place with a meeting and thematic discussions at two companies in the Netino area between the managers of the agricultural companies and those of the Kyoto Club and Coordinamento Agroecologia Sicilia.
In the afternoon, the discussion with students and teachers of the two institutes continued, also in the presence of the Mayor of Noto, Corrado Figura, with the projection of slides and information on the policies of the sector and the objectives to be achieved by 20230 and 2050.
An experience that for the students represented, given the attention during the entire day, an experience to be repeated and proposed again at several levels.
