The 1st Mediterranean Agroecology Congress represents the first moment of verification of the state of science, movements and practices adopted by the countries bordering the Mediterranean.
The Sicilian Agroecology Coordination, promoter together with the Italian Agroforestry Association (AIAF) and the Italian Agroecology Association (AIDA), has promoted a series of meetings to prepare for the Congress, which will take place from 9 to 12 June 2025 in Agrigento (Sicily), to raise awareness among the populations towards that great change in modern history, which involves us all, which goes under the name of Agroecology. A change that will gradually allow the transformation of agri-food systems and the perception of the relationship between humanity and nature.
To promote this awareness and involve people of all levels, and therefore not only farmers or researchers and technicians in the sector, the Sicilian Agroecology Coordination has planned a series of approach stages that have already begun on December 5, 2024 and will continue until May 15, 2025.
Within the awareness program, a fundraising project has also been created, in favor of companies that are implementing the agroecological transition pursuant to Regional Law 21 of July 29, 2021 of the Sicilian Region concerning “Provisions on agroecology, protection of biodiversity and Sicilian agricultural products and technological innovation in agriculture. Rules on maritime state concessions”. In short, a complete program that allows not only awareness but also participation.
